For Builders & Contractors

Building energy-efficient homes isn’t just a smart choice for homeowners, it’s good business.

AHFC is developing programs and rebates that are responsive to U.S. Department of Energy requirements but are specifically tailored to address Alaska’s unique needs and challenges.

By incorporating these energy-efficient solutions, you’re not only improving the homes you build but also giving homeowners the chance to save on energy costs while helping them qualify for these beneficial rebates.

New Home Construction Rebate: Accepting Applications

The New Home Construction Rebate is an initiative aimed at increasing Alaska’s housing inventory while supporting energy-efficient home construction. The rebate will be paid directly to the homeowner upon completion of construction and a successful application.

As part of their application process, homeowners may be asked to provide documentation supplied by their builder or contractor.

What Applicants Will Need From You

  • Proof of contract if the home is not yet completed
  • Signed letter from the builder, with contractor license number, stating that the home will meet a 5-Star Plus or higher energy efficiency standard

Keep Your License Current

For homeowners to qualify for the New Home Construction Rebate and if they are working with a contractor, the contractor must be state-authorized to construct new residential homes and must hold both a valid Contractor License and a Residential Endorsement License. As part of the application process, AHFC will verify that the contractor listed has an active license with a residential endorsement.
